Pretentious

Overall I found this piece to be quite pretentious. It tries to be really deep and emotionally moving when there is nothing to really grasp on to. It's just a bunch of highly cliche images of the skinny african boy playing soccer, an astronaut looking at earth, etc. The fact that is was so cliche made it seem almost like a commercial to me, completely turning me off to the deep emotion it's trying to grasp. I mean what i get from it is "It's just lifee maaan. We all stop to look at the same eclipse so we are like all the same maan!" *take bong hit*.

But I liked your drawing style, and sometimes the crappy animation was charming. There are also some good moments where it's not so cliche like the newgrounds comment added some comic relief and I guess I'm just one of very few who were turned off by something this corny so I guess you can take my comment with a grain of salt.

AloneInTheDark responds:

When i made this, I didn't really had a deeper meaning i wanted to convey. I tried to be unbiased and objective and to not ask for pity for the african boy or to marvel at the astronaut. The only thing this animation basically is, is the contrast between life in motion and life stopping. It's up to the viewer to reflect on that.

hahhaahah love it

Hahahha great short, clever, funny, and to the point. :D down with the Kitty Krew and Clock Crew and all of those uncreative spammers.

TheDevilMyself responds:

My sentiments exactly! (damn you, strawberry clock!)

Good stuff, I liked the camera angles

This is really cool the animation is nice and the sound, despite it being pretty much just link's voice is really good. I love the camera angles and using a sort of traditional cinema style by focusing in on the points of action. Good work keep it up.

Awesome work

Great stuff I love the monochrome, the sound is crisp and nice, the whole thing is very professional too, and the humor is great not over the top and forceful yet hilarious. Good job.

Funny

Haha I liked that, good writing, funny stuff. Now all you need is some better refined graphics and cleaner audio. The voice acting wasn't that bad either, could be better. Over I liked it keep up the good work.

jonwash responds:

Thanks. But once again, I'd urge you to check out our other productions that we'd made after this one. They're better.

Hold on..

Hold on... *cheeks puff out* I'm just gonna- let me just.. *pull out barf bag* HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHURUURURULLLLGG GGALLLLLLLGGG, *wipes mouth*. Ok I'm ready now.

Bleeeck cutesy stuff. Ok whatever cute little pictures of dogs and cat, the music seemed a little over the top for the subject matter, but besides that I definitely like the effect on the text and I'm sure someone less heartless then me would definitely enjoy it. Some of the pictures were of less quality then the others that had like over exposure and kind of broke up the continuity of the flash for me, though they did add a certain endearing quality to them. Otherwise decent work, just a little too sappy for me.

Vighkel responds:

I understand what you are saying, thanks for dropping in.

Cheesy

In all honesty I found this flash to be cheesy and simply using a relate-able tragic event to pull at peoples emotions. If the little girl's father died of something like lung cancer, some freak accident, or was even randomly murdered I don't think you would nearly get the same response from people. The animation didn't even have anything that really related to 9/11 just a series of frames using tired sad symbols like a sad little child, roses, and a slow moving tear.

I'm sorry, I feel like an asshole because I'm sure this animation means a lot to many people, but I'm not rating the emotional power of the "my daddy died in 9/11" context. I'm rating the animation itself, and the animation had an overused song, mediocre graphics, a lot of simple tweening animation, and seriously lacked originality. My score does not in any way reflect my opinion of the seriousness of the tragic events of 9/11 nor am I simply trying to stand out and offend people, the animation just came off as abrasively emotional and corny to me.

Awesome

The piano score was great, the style was great, the animation was great, I loved it.

Great work man, keep it up.

I'm sure you've heard this enough but boo for the stickmen, some times stickmen are fine in animations but with the great cinematic style you've got going here stickmen just take away from it big time.

Besides that audio work is quite good, especially for newgrounds which seems to be loaded with people who don't know what to do with audio, your storytelling and cinematography is good too, and your animation especially show cased in this one is well done. Overall I likey.

Get-lost responds:

Great, thanks :)

Funny and promising animation

Good work, the animation at the beginning looks really good. It was pretty funny, and I try to follow LOST so lots of good visual hints. That beginning scene that looks a lot like a scanner darkly style was really sweet, it makes me wish that it continued with that style instead of breaking off into the goofy music video it did. Still, entertaining and good you get my thumbs up.
